The center reads “Rev. & Mrs. F. Haley.” A four-line verse is written between the single hearts:
The quilt is hers the money sent
Is for the preachers’ outfit ment,
The double harts count silver dimes
Each center counts as much ten times.
A single hart may surely quaff,
Of Life’s full cups a modest half,
Each hart, a nickel call
You’ll quickly tell the sum of all,
For you dear friends whose harts are one,
This work of love is gladly done.
The gift is small but loves full quota
We send to you in far Dakota.
A thing is done when woman will’t;
And so this emblematic quilt
Is ‘pieced’ and sent from Boscawen town
To Mrs. Rev. A. A. Brown.
