Historical Society Offers Opportunity to Reflect on Images and Memories of the Old Man of the Mountain

In recognition of the great loss of New Hampshire's Old Man of the Mountain, the New Hampshire Historical Society is displaying items from its museum collection related to the Great Stone Face. A small display on New Hampshire's beloved state symbol is on view at the Society's Museum of New Hampshire History in Concord.

Twenty-four objects depicting the Old Man are on view in the lobby of the Museum of New Hampshire History, located at 6 Eagle Square. Objects include rare medals, souvenir ceramics, and 19th-century prints and drawings, including an 1845 drawing by James Cabot.
