Claiming the Land: Our Past, Our Future, Our Choice

Lake Winnipesaukee, oil on canvas, circa 1865, by William H. Titcomb (1824-1888). This painting, a gift of Catherine Campbell to the New Hampshire Historical Society, was one of twenty landscape views included in the past exhibition Claiming the Land: Our Past, Our Future, Our Choice.

Claiming the Land: Our Past, Our Future, Our Choice, a collaborative exhibition of the New Hampshire Historical Society and the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, was on view at the Museum of New Hampshire History from March 23, 2002, through March 28, 2004. In addition to presenting information on land use history, the exhibition explored contemporary land use issues affecting New Hampshire's future landscape.
