Digital Image Reproduction

The New Hampshire Historical Society provides high resolution TIFF or JPEG files to those requesting reproduction of items located in the Society's collection. The following fees apply to image reproduction:*
  • $25 per image for items that have been previously digitized
  • $50 per image for items that have NOT been previously digitized
Items requiring special equipment to be digitized will be priced on an individual basis. Fees are subject to vary.

*Members of the New Hampshire Historical Society receive a 10% discount.

Copyright Information

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17) governs the making of photocopies and other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying or digitization order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

Duplication of images from the collection of the New Hampshire Historical Society is governed by the foregoing policy. Further reproduction of images from the Society’s collections is permitted only after the completion of an Application for Image Publication or Exhibition form. The completion of said application does not imply clearance of any copyright restrictions other than those vested in the New Hampshire Historical Society. It is the responsibility of the party using the images from the collections of the New Hampshire Historical Society to ascertain and clear all copyright restrictions. Please see the Terms of Use for more information.
