Scope and Content: Photographic print of the 2nd brigade at the New Hampshire National Guard campgrounds at Concord Plains in Concord, NH, dated 1865. The caption states, "National Guard Camp Grounds Concord Plains Members of the 2d Brigade 1865. These grounds were first used by the New Hampshire State Agricultural Society for its annual fairs, first held September 26, 27, and 28, 1861. Moses Humphrey was instructed to cause a deed, or lease, to be made, conveying the premises in perpetual trust to the city of Concord, it being provided that the Agricultural Society should have the use of the grounds for its annual airs without charge or expense. and if at any time the society should be dissolved, or become inoperative, the city of Concord should retain its rights to the premises, the society after eight fairs became inoperative, and the city on June 16, 1885 was deeded, or leased, to the state of New Hampshire, for ninety-nine years the grounds for "military reviews, musters, and inspection," and for public purposes. This agreement will expire in 1984, or 25 more years to run. (1959) Double decked reviewing stand of the old Fair Grounds Fence on left, Pembroke Road, Men are facing the Airport Road. This section of the grounds later became the camp headquarters."
