Scope and Content: Photographic print of the New Hampshire National Guard State Camp Ground in Concord, NH, dated 1888. The caption states, "National Guard State Camp Ground 1888 The camp was on the property of the Merrimack County Agricultural society, commonly called the fair grounds, on the east side of the river, where extensive preparations were made to accommodate the new occupants. The first encampment was in 1881, in followings years enlargement of the grounds and erection of commodious quarters and stables. Water was introduced from Lake Penacook and in 1886 the brick arsenal was built. Each encampment was named for the Chief executive of the year. 1888 Camp Sawyer. Parade Grounds, company preparing for the sun set gun salute. View looking west."
