Scope and Content: Photograph of the remodeling of the New Hampshire State House in Concord, NH, in 1865. The caption states, "Outwardly the appearance of the front of the building was materially improved the construction of the portico with its massive granite supporting columns across entire breath of the center section and the removal of the doors leading into the north and south wings. This gateway is at the south east side of the state house yard. A part of the old stone wall that was on the south side of the yard shows on the left of the picture. At each corner and on each side of the center was large granite posts, the two ones that were are the center are now (1957) at the new entrance to the New Hampshire Children's Center, South Fruit street."
