Scope and Content: Photographic print of the engine and firemen o f the Kearsarge Fire Engine Company, No. 2 in Concord, NH, dated 1868. The caption states, "1866 "Kearsarge Steam Fire Engine Company, No. 2. "Gov. Hill the first steamer was purchased in 1862 - the first steam fire engine, upon a proposition of the board or engineers and recommendation of the Mayor, the purchase of another steam engine - the 'Kearsarge', was ordered. This engine was named 'Kearsarge Steam Fire Engine Company, No. 2. David L. Neal was the first foreman, and I. N. Farley Engineer. This photograph was made in 1868 in front of the old station No. 4 on Warren street. George Lovejoy was the foreman, A. M. Stickney Engineer and Thomas Murphy the driver. A hose company was connected to this engine, the 'Hydrant and Hose Company of the Northern Railroad shops the company consisted of ten men."
