Scope and Content: Scrapbook of newspaper clippings related to Rockingham Park in Salem, NH, created by the Rockingham Park Press Office for the year 1978. Most of the newspaper clippings in the scrapbook are from the clipping service New England Newsclip, which includes the name of the publication, the date, publication location, and distribution. Some of the newspapers represented include the Portsmouth Herald, Lawrence Eagle, Hartford Courant, Patriot Ledger, and Salem Observer. The articles are mostly on happenings at the Park including races, "Cheesie's" picks [Gerald Cheevers, goalie of the Boston Bruins], visitors, and horses or dogs to watch. Also included are articles on other race tracks, such as Suffolk Downs, and other events happening at the track, such as boxing and filming for TV shows. Other peripheral articles about the park include clippings on employees (deaths, announcements), legislation, and lobbyists.
