Scope and Content: The George and William Boyd Papers, 1773-1821, contain mostly letters dealing with the commercial interests of George Boyd and William Boyd. George Boyd's letters were written mostly between 1773 and 1775 and cover Boyd's commercial activities including contacts, shipping schedules, construction, credit, and accounts. There is some political comment and assessment of British commercial policy. William Boyd's letters, written from April 27, 1818 to May 21, 1821 deal almost exclusively wtih Boyd's commerical activities including contacts, prices, columes, commodities, credit, the state of the New Orleans market, and fluxuations in the Mississippi trade. Acounts of several legal disputes, the yellow fever epidemics of 1819-1820, buisness failures in New Orleans, slave transactions, pirates, the Louisisana courts, and some politics are also topics of some of the letters.
