Scope and Content: Correspondence and poems written by and for author and poet Nathaniel Hazeltine Carter of Hanover, N.H. and New York City. The majority of the correspondence consists of letters of introduction to people in Ireland and England from Carter's friends and written before his European tour in 1825. Carter was a noted journalist and poet. Also included in the collection are a certificate and letter announcing Dr. David Carter's election to the N.H. Medical Society in 1819.
