Scope and Content: The Paul G. Stroud Jr. Correspondence contains letters both to and from Private. Stroud and mostly deal with the life of an American in World War II training camps or life in Belmont, NH. The majority of the letters sent to Stroud are from his mother, Ida M. Stroud. Stroud was in the United States Army Air Force and completed his ground training in various bases throughout the United States. Multiple letters to Stroud are from members of the local Baptist Church community in Belmont, NH. The letters range from August 1944 to March 1946. Some of the letters contain newspaper clippings and one contains a sea shell sent home as a souvenir. Due to the time span of the letters, many important dates in World War II history are discussed including V-E Day.
