Scope and Content: Letter from William W. Fish in Knoxville, TN, to his mother dated December 15, 1863. Fish describes the besieging of Knoxville and the fortifications that were created to defend it against Rebel forces. He notes that rumors of Union surrender are untrue. He goes on to mention the heavy losses the Rebels have suffered and a short armistice that the Union granted them to retrieve their dead.
