Description: Sampler. Unidentified maker. Unfinished; worked in olive green, tan, and cream cotton threads on plain-woven cotton sheeting. Features three alphabets: first, block capital letters followed by numbers one through eight; second, lower-case letters all worked in beige on one line; third, script capital letters A through Y. In the lower half of the sampler, three decorative motifs are stitched: a double-handled vase, a basket with a flower, and a double-handled vase with a flower. The lower third of the sampler is blank. All four edges are hemstitched.
