Description: Ring, mourning. Gold. Rectangular faceted crystal over a paper skull with foil mat in a raised fluted setting flanked by two square crystals. "M. LANGDON:OB:28 OCT: 1736.AE8." engraved in roman characters and highlighted with black enamel, around exterior of straight band.

Provenance: Funeral or mourning ring, once belonging to Mary Langdon (Holbrook) Ham, (1785-1859), daughter of Samuel and Martha (Clark) Holbrook, and wife of William Ham, all of Portsmouth. Later owned by her granddaughter Nellie Mary (Dearborn) Batchelder. By tradition her name was Mary Langdon. Probably she was the daughter of Dea. Mark and Mehitable (Jackson) Langdon of Portsmouth.
