Scope and Content: The Samuel Batchelder Papers consist of business accounts and personal correspondence of Samuel Batchelder of New Ipswich, NH, from 1808 to 1827. The correspondence in this collection is to and from Nathan Hale of Boston, MA, between 1808 and 1814 and provides personal updates as well as discussions on current events, politics, elections, courts, and the War of 1812. The majority of accounts are with Gilman Prichard & Co. of Boston and date from 1818 to 1827. Also included is an undated note that states "Sales / of / Hand loom / woven cloth. Purchase / of / Cotton."
