Scope and Content: Letter from John A. Dix in New York, NY, to Philip C. Wilkins dated February 18, 1871. In the letter, Dix discusses his father's land grant in New Hampshire, which was the town of Dixville at about 29,000 acres. He goes on to discuss his father's death in the War of 1812 and that they believe the grant was forfeited. Dix does not believe the land would be worth much, but inquires if anyone would be willing to investigate if the grant is still active.
