Description: Communion flagon. Silver plate. Tall with straight sides tapering from a hollow flared base to the rim. Molded ring at top of base, and rings of beading around very bottom of base and at top of rim. Hinged double domes lid with bezel which fits inside mouth of body. Finial in the shape of a grape vine, a bunch of grapes and grape leaves, is separate and attached to top of lid with a wing nut. Handle is elaboratetly scrolled and divided at bottom. Has a raised diamond on top on which the open lid rests, and beading along both sides. Spout is slightly curved and covered except for the end. Spout is decorated with leafy scrolls with a raised oval in the middle and an ornamental drop at base of joint with body. Marks: "MERIDEN B./COMPANY/No. 12" around a shield with a scale inside.
