Description: Knife, one of a set of four. Silver plated blade, and composition (faux ivory) handle. Straight-sided blade with round end. Beige handle, flaring slightly to somewhat rounded end. Etched mark on face of blade: "MERIDEN CUTLERY CO. / 1855 / 12", with scrolls on both sides of 1855.

Provenance: The Josiah Abbott Dadmun (1840-c.1925) and Susan Dadmun (1844-c.1934) Collection is a bequest of their daughter, Helen I. Dadmun (Mrs. Frank C.) Doble (1881-1969). Mrs. Doble's bequest includes: "my collection of early American sterling silver spoons." Other items in the collection include: New Hampshire and other silver, wallpaper samples, fans, personal items, and birchbark pictures made by E. H. Merrill.
