Description: Coffeepot. Manufactured by Rogers, Smith & Company, New Haven, CT, 1865. Silver-plated white metal. Urn-shaped body with tapered, convex banded, stepped foot. Tapered, concave banded, stepped top with a hinged cover and urn-shaped finial. Greek key and beaded bands around top of body. Beaded bands around base of body, bottom of foot, neck, middle of cover, and top of urn finial. Reticulated, scrolled handle with two off-white color bone washers. Curved spout with scroll decoration on front. Obverse engraved: "PRESENTED TO / Mrs. C.E. Johnson. / By her Friends of the / First Baptist Society. / Concord. N.H. / May 6th 1865." Reverse engraved in feathered script: "C. W. Flanders. J. A. Gilmore. / Isaac Elwell. Gilbert Bullock. / Geo. W. Drew. David A. Warde. / Geo. P. Cleaves. E. G. Carter. / H. B. Foster. Geo A. Pillsbury. / N. J. Mead. Stephen Sewell. / John F. Rollins. T. W. Pillsbury. / J. W. Prescott. Stilman Humphrey. / Edson Eastman. Isaac N. Elwell. / Charles H. Hill." Stamped on bottom: "ROGERS SMITH & CO / NEW HAVEN CONN / 1959". Part of eight-piece silver-plated teaset presented to Mrs. Caroline E. Johnson by the First Baptist Society, Concord, NH, 1865.
