Description: Spoon Holder. Manufactured by Rogers, Smith & Company, New Haven, CT, 1865. Silver-plated white metal. Ovoid body with tapered, convex banded, stepped foot. Tapered, concave neck with flared edge. Scrolled leaf bands bottom of foot and edge of rim. Two scrolled, chased leaf and flower handles. Greek key band engraved around circumference of exterior with Gothic script: "J" engraved in scrolled cartouche on front. Stamped in round seal on bottom: "ROGERS SMITH & CO / NEW HAVEN Ct. / No. / 1830". Part of eight-piece silver-plated teaset presented to Mrs. Caroline E. Johnson by the First Baptist Society, Concord, NH, 1865.
