Description: The article examines Article 10 of the constitution of New Hampshire, which states that citizens have the right or revolution and may resist their own government in the face of arbitrary power and oppression. The 1990 case of Guy Chichester, who was found not guilty of civil disobedience under Article 10, is reviewed. The author compares the constitution of New Hampshire, the first state to write a constitution, to that of other states and mentions that few of the original 13 states addressed the right to resistance.
