Provenance: Attributed to Olive Shapley Locke (1795-1874) of Rye, NH, daughter of John Locke (1767-1814) and Abigail Jenness Locke (1769-1812). Notes that came with this piece refer to a sampler made by Olive S. Locke in 1807; NHHS did not receive the sampler. The notes were apparently attached to the back of the frame that held this needlework picture.
