Description: Pillowcase. Linen. Embroidered "P . W" in gold-colored thread. Paper label, 3.8" x 5.5", sewn at one corner, inscribed in ink: "This hand woven pillow case was owned by and / probably made by my great grand mother / Margaret (Peggy) Cunningham. She was born in / Pembroke N. H. Jan. 2[?] 1778. That was the date / she worked on her sampler (owned by me). She / married Thomas Whittemore of Pembroke N.H. / He was a clock-maker. They are both buried in / Pembroke N.H. in the same cemetery but not / in the same lot. She was the mother of my / grandmother, Eliza Whittemore Choate. / Mrs. Nellie Mable Choate Kimball / East Lynn, Mass. December 29, 1928".
