Description: Marking Sampler. Made by Beulah Philbrick (1770-1850), Weare, NH; c. 1780. Unfinished, no name or date. Silk twist in shades of gray and blue worked in cross-stitched random letters scattered across a small square of plain-woven linen. First line is script capital letters "P H G L B R G." Second line, "CK 1234;" third line, "5678." Scattered letters in lower half of the sampler, including a large capital I, and script B and P. Three edges of the linen are hemmed; left edge is selvage.
