Surrounding this central panel is a deep border, with a shallow basket of flowers centered at the bottom, flanked by trees growing from low hills. A basket with flowers on thin stems is worked on each side, and across the top is another shallow vessel of flowers that grow out to the upper corners. These motifs are outlined with dark brown stitches and filled with pale green, light chartreuse, pale pink, cream, pale blue, and dark blue silks in tent stitch, cross stitch, satin stitch, straight stitch, and French knots [in flower at lower right].
