Abstract: The Asa W. Bartlett Papers, 1806-1907, contain documentation of the 12th New Hampshire Regiment's service in the Civil War, as well as Asa Bartletts efforts to arrange reunions and sponsor a monument at Gettysburg.
Scope and Content: The Asa W. Bartlett Papers, 1860-1907, represents Bartlett's documentation of the service of the 12th New Hampshire Regiment in the Civil War and his efforts to arrange reunions and sponsor a monument at Gettysburg. These materials include orders and official documents, court martials, and reminiscences for the 12th Regiment. The papers also include programs, newsletters, signatures, and correspondence from efforts to organize reunions for the 12th New Hampshire. The collection also includes materials on the history of the 12th New Hampshire, which Bartlett kept as official historian of the regiment. Some items of note include a newspaper clipping about President Grant visiting Manchester, NH. Another item of note is the 1899 Twelfth New Hampshire Volunteers Association Annual Reunion program.
