Description: Sauce Ladle. Made by the Meriden Britannia Company, Meriden, CT; c. 1904. "Vintage" pattern. Silver plated white metal, in the 1847 Rogers Bros (a.k.a. Meriden Britannia Co.). Raised decoration of grape vines and clusters running down the handle and stem. Embossed grape leaves and vines in the roughly elliptical bowl. Engraved "T" in script on front of handle. Cast on back of stem: "1847ROGERS BROS" in upper-case sans-serif letters, followed by a circular mark with scales and dots, followed by a stamped mark, "XS / TRIPLE" in upper-case sans-serif letters.

Provenance: This ladle is part of a collection of Kent and Thomas family objects, bequeathed by Louise Thomas Blanding (1891-1981) of West Barrington, RI. The donor was the grand- daughter of Mary Jane Kent (1806-1897) and Rev. Moses George Thomas (1805-1880) of Concord, NH. These spoons probably belonged to the donor's parents, Nellie F. Goodwin (1855-1902) and William Channing Thomas (1843-1914).
