Description: Cruet set, with stand and five bottles. Silverplate and glass. Stand has rotating circular platform which holds five glass bottles.The frame is made up of three parts (handle, platform, and base), which can be taken apart by unscewing the handle piece. Outer surface of the bottle platform is engraved with foliage design. Bottles have cut and engraved decoration. Two bottles are casters with silver lids, one is a condiment pot, and two are oil/vinegar cruets. Each bottle is decorated with both cutwork and wheel turned engraving. Impressed marks on bottom of stand: "Meriden / B Company" (with pellet between the B and C) and "19". Figure "19" incised on bottom of platform and on each of the metal covers.

Provenance: Part of a collection of household furnishings from three principal sources: Concord, N.H. ancestors of Arthur Sturtevant (1864-1953), donor's father; Ipswich, Mass. family of Florence Sturtevant (1866-1938), donor's step-mother; and Chatham Pines, a vacation camp in Chatham, N.H., owned by the donor from 1940 to 1953. Chatham Pine had previously been owned by Mrs. Pearl Bemis, who collected antiques from the local area which she then used to furnish the cabins at the camp. This piece is referred to in 1977 appraisal as "lazy susan complete with five jars," found in the southeast bedroom of the Sturtevant home. It is listed as "origin unknown," and found "in closet."
