Provenance: George C. Soule (1914-2008) of Manchester, NH, was an artist with the Civilian Conservation Corps in New Hampshire, 1935-1937. He was assigned to draw portraits of CCC workers and to document camp life in the 118th Company, CCC, East Jaffrey, NH. He later worked as an artist with the WPA until 1942, and then as a draftsman at the Manchester Army Air Base. He studied art at Yale and became an architect in Manchester. He operated the firm of Soule & Associates from the 1950s through the 1980s. He designed schools, churches, houses, and a wide variety of commercial buildings in southern NH and southern New England. The collection was donated by the children of George Soule.
