Scope and Content: Muster-in roll for Company D of the First New Hampshire Volunteers under Captain Julius C. Timson and commanded by Colonel Robert H. Rolfe. This company was called into service by an order of the president on April 23, 1898 in response to the outbreak of the Spanish-American War. Dated May 8, 1898, the muster notes this is for two years of service. Most of the men on the roll are from Claremont, NH, and the muster includes such information as name, rank, physical description, occupation, enlistment, oath of service, and marriage status. Also included are remarks, which provides details on their physical condition, such as missing teeth and scars. The muster is signed by Julius C. Timson at Concord, NH.
