Scope and Content: Ebenezer Carleton ran a lumbering business in the Bath-Whitefield-Jefferson area of New Hampshire. This collection consists of financial and legal papers relating to Carleton and his various business partnerships. These included Carleton & Cobleigh, a partnership with Abiel Deming and another partnership with this son, Ebenezer, Jr. The financial records include account for labor, sawing lumber, for boards, clapboards and shingles, for hauling, surveying and marking wood, and for joinery. The papers also include several agreements between Carleton and customers for procuring and delivering lumber. Ebenezer Carleton, Jr., is represented by a license to run a store and the legal agreement with his partner, and accounts. The collection also includes the lumber and miscellaneous accounts of John Pearson.
