Scope and Content: The Jacob Adams Estate Papers, 1812-1823, contain the legal documents outlining what was to happen to the estate of Jacob Adams upon his death in 1822. Without family or heirs, Adams left approximately four thousand dollars for the founding of the Adams Female Academy in Derry, NH. It became one of the first schools for girls in New England. Papers in the collection include deeds, inventories, probate records, and auction records all concerning Jacob Adams' estate.
