Scope and Content: Letter from J.C. Estey in Fort Wood, NY, to his parents in Londonderry, NH, dated June 6, 1865. The envelope is also with the letter and addressed to Mr. Daniel Estey with a New York postmark. The stamp has been removed. In the letter, Estey writes of the death of his brother, Charles E. Estey of the 4th New Hampshire, at Andersonville Prison in Andersonville, GA. J.C. Estey instructs his parents how to collect Charles's final pay. J.C. Estey also describes his situation and that of members of his family.
