The majority of papers related to John Stark's service in the military during the American Revolution, first as captain, then as brigadier general. The collection is cataloged based on the accession of the materials. The largest part of the collection is the John Stark Papers (M 1918.005).
Arrangment: The papers are divided into seven series: Series I. Correspondence, 1755-1811, Series II. Military Commissions, 1758-1786, Series III. Returns of Strength, 1775-1781, Series IV. Personal and Military Accounts, 1775-1816, Series V. Personal and Military Receipts, 1760-1814, Series VI. Miscellaneous Papers, 1743-1814, and Series VII. Account Books, 1775-1784. This collection also contains a box of copied microfilmed correspondence housed at the Library of Congress. The remaining items in the collection are five volumes, four orderly books and one account book. The orderly books provide information on events during the American Revolution. They also contain accounts from after the War ended.
