Scope and Content: The Susan N. McLane Papers contains both the personal and political papers of Susan McLane. Includes extensive personal and political correspondence, biographical material, speeches, papers of numerous organizations of which Susan was a member, her political campaign material, and legislative activity such as sponsored bills. The personal papers contain correspondence to and from family and fields; biographical information including education, health, local activities, family information, speaking engagements, awards, and organizations in which she was actively engaged. The political section includes organizations in which she was active, including political committees; campaign materials, including a race for the position of Speaker of the New Hampshire House; legislative work including lists of sponsored bills; and course materials, include a history of the New Hampshire primary, which she taught at Harvard's Kennedy School of Economics. Notable political figures represented in this collection include Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, George H. W. Bush, Barbara Bush, Jimmy Carter, and Colin Powell.
