Scope and Content: An orderly book kept by Thomas Russell, Aide-de-camp to General John Stark for the brigade commanded by Stark. The book includes general division, wing, and brigade orders for forces in parts of northern New Jersey. Most orders pertain to daily life around camp. The entries for September 5 and 6 record resolutions of the Continental Congress relating to remuneration and pensions of officers and soldiers as well as making embezzling from public stores and offense punishable by death. After the war, the book became the property of the Stark family and contains a few scattered entries of John Stark, Junior and John Ray. An index of names in this volume is available.
