Scope and Content: The Tolles and Moseley Family Papers contain family correspondence, receipts, deeds, miscellaneous poetry, and family genealogy from the Tolles and Moseley families of Weathersfield, VT, and Nashua, NH, from 1816 to 1869. Also included are papers from Dr. Chester A. Paull from his time at Harvard Medical School in 1896 to 1907. Paull's papers include certificates from Harvard, which note he is a trained nurse; letters, including an 1899 letter from Paull to his parents requesting permission to date a young lady he wishes to marry; membership certificates to the Sherborn Grange No. 110; and genealogy for the Blunt family. The majority of materials in this collection are correspondence to and from Levi and Fanny Tolles. Levi's correspondence references from teaching in Weathersfield, VT; complaints about living in Bloomfield, VT; talks of moving to Dunstable, NH; and includes mentions of the Indian Stream War. Fanny Moseley Tolles' correspondence contains letters to her mother and sisters regarding health and family matters. Baker Moseley's letters to Levi and Fanny Tolles discuss work as a tanner, the boss's wife and "petticoat government," religious thoughts, and the visit of President Jackson to Boston. Franklin Moseley's letters to Levi and Fanny Tolles discuss work as a tanner, talks of Weathersfield, windmills in 1823, family and health, and the estate. Other correspondence includes letters to Levi and Fanny from friends including George Marshall in Brunswick, VT, and Ohio regarding deaths in the family and personal activities. Pricilla, Abigail, Eleanor, and Frances Moseley's correspondence discusses their sister's position as household servant in Boston in 1835. Also included in this collection is an appointment of Levi Tolles as highway surveyor for Dunstable and a bond for Lucien M. Tolles to care for Fanny and Levi dated 1851. Levi Tolles' receipts include entries such as ginger, raisins, tea, cider, eggs, clapboards, gloves, Nashua taxes, telegraph, and promissory notes.
