Scope and Content: Scrapbook of newspaper clippings related to Rockingham Park in Salem, NH, created by the Rockingham Park Press Office for the year 1979. Most of the newspaper clippings in the scrapbook are from the clipping service New England Newsclip, which includes the name of the publication, the date, publication location, and distribution. Some of the newspapers represented include the Manchester Union Leader, Milford Citizen, Boston Herald, Providence Sunday Journal, and Salem Observer. The majority of articles are on the FBI race fixing investigation and trial, particularly about the trial of Anthony "Tony" Ciulla and Howard T. Winter. Other articles are on the happenings at the Park including races, Leo's picks, visitors, jockeys, and horses. Also included are some articles on other race tracks, such as Suffolk Downs and other events happening at the track. Other peripheral articles about the park include clippings on employees (deaths, announcements) and on the death of Duffy Lewis [George Edward Lewis] of the Boston Red Sox.
